Monks good for hard rez
Mesmer could be good for an interupt or if you use apply poision you can add epidemic
Warrior stances could be helpful
Ele you ave skills like Conjure flame and mark of rodgort which go great with a fiery bowstring
Its really all about what you are trying to do
btw these are all just what I would add if i had the particular secondary. Other people might say the look awful

depends on what you are doing. for general PVE questing I go /mo for hard rez.
trapping I sometimes go /me for echo trap
my bar has very little of the other profession on it though. if /mo I just have rebirth or resurrect, nothing else from monk.

/mo for mending touch. other monk spells work well with rangers too, for condi/hex removal in TA.

Proph only? I think not
On-topic - /Me or /Mo - both have useful utility skills, Epidemic and Hex defense-type skills.

when i started proph i used r/e. it proved to handle well to the point where you can become other secondaries later (then using the /mo can provide great backup in team play.) however that was a long time ago and many updates later. but i agree with 'the end is near'.

They make nasty touch ranger.
/on topic
All profession are good as sec, it just depends on how you use it.
Ranger/ele for conjure fire/earth/lighting/ice is good
Ranger/ele with Meteor shower is bad.
I started as R/Necro just for Life Siphon. Does degen and gets your health up, but that just me.
if your still in Pre Ascalon you'll have the chance to see a couple of all the different professions skills. You can also read wiki on the different profession and skill. Last but not least, the Ranger's build section on this forum will give you a good idea of what every professions has got to offer that is of any use for a Ranger.
Enjoy GW.

Thank you. I am more leaning toward ranger/mes or ranger/necro as I have never tried necro and mes before and I already have a ele/monk. Between those two I cant choose really. I am learning toward necro tho! :P

If you still have doubts between necro and mesmer secondary for ranger, I'd take mesmer if I were you.. R/N is mainly for touching, and I dont think you made a ranger to touch.. Mesmer on the other hand is very useful for ranger, they can echo trap, use epidemic if you are a conditioner, they got some very useful skills for ranger.
But as stated above ranger doesnt really need a secondary, and when they do it's most of the time only for one or two skills It's your choice really, you can change it anyways so dont worry too much.
GL and have fun with your ranger
